I’m very fortunate that I’ve been a member of Sportsplex for years. Sounds like I was a real regular but not until recently. At 47 years old, only 5”2 and 182lbs, I was a tight size 16 and I had to face the facts - if I wanted to be in better shape for life “part two” then I needed to do the work. How Is She Doing It? I’ve always hated dieting and never considered myself remotely athletic but somehow Sportsplex made the “work-out” fun. The level of expertise of the instructors is unlike that of other clubs that had someone teaching a class by rote. At Sportsplex the classes are always interesting and at times even personally tailored! In October of 2007 I added Friday morning Spin class onto my Tue/Thur morning Core Conditioning routine. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed spinning. Gradually I started coming every day M-F and now I even come down from Bridgeport on Sat/Sun too. Because of my job I’m a morning person and I love the variety of classes that keep me engaged, the support I get from my instructors, Patti, Joanne, Penny & Paula, along with my fellow class members that keep me motivated and good friends that inspire me. I’ve only modified my eating habits slightly. I am not on any diet but by working out 5-7 days at Sportsplex I think I’m halfway to my goal of 116. I went from a tight 16 to a comfy 12 and some 10’s. My goal is sizes 6 to 8 as a rule w/10 being the “fat” jeans” Progress is being made, thanks to Sportsplex!!! |

Change is never easy. It takes discipline, dedication and consistency. Since June 2007, Sportsplex member, Barbara Burns has lost 30 pounds and whipped herself into shape. Not an easy task considering Barbara has a demanding full time job and two young children. How She Did It Barbara completely changed her eating habits and exercises five mornings a week at 6am, after a one hour commute from Garrison NY. She participates in our early morning exercise classes and is a huge inspiration to the other early morning exercisers, some of which have already had their “before” shots taken so they can have a similarly successful story to tell. |
